Freckled Hen Beet Seeds
This heirloom beet has been grown since 1892 as a storage variety, prized for its perfectly round blood-red roots that are sweet and smooth. Baby beets can be harvested early and used raw or lightly cooked. Mature roots will keep well and the tops make great beet greens.
- Where to plant: Plant beets in an area with full sun and moist, fertile soil.
- When to sow outside: Directly sow beets in the garden in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked an plant again in late summer for a fall harvest
